Announcing the Draft “Bass Action Plan”

Bass (Largemouth and Smallmouth) provide tremendous ecological, social and economic benefits to the state of Connecticut. Accordingly, bass are a high priority management species for the CT DEEP Fisheries Division. However, there are challenges to maintaining high quality bass fishing opportunities as our fisheries and the anglers who target them continue to evolve. To meet these challenges, we have developed the new draft Bass Action Plan. Building on decades of research in Connecticut and elsewhere, the plan highlights specific actions that can be taken to sustain and improve bass fishing in Connecticut.

Continued collaboration between the Fisheries Division and the anglers of Connecticut will be crucial in realizing our shared goal – improved bass fishing opportunities for everyone in the years to come.

To that end, we encourage you to register for our public informational session on July 12, 2022 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm where Fisheries Division staff will provide an overview and answer questions. You are also encouraged to submit feedback on the Bass Action Plan using this form.

With your feedback, the Fisheries Division will refine and finalize the draft Bass Action Plan. As a living document, the plan will continue to be updated in response to new scientific evidence, angler preferences, environmental conditions, levels of success achieved, and other factors.
