Miami, FL – Renowned angler and television host Captain Rick Murphy has officially partnered with Chittum Skiffs, the industry leader in high-performance technical poling skiffs, bringing two Islamorada models to the Murphy’s Law Sportfishing fleet. Capt. Rick will be fishing out of a 21’ powered by a Yamaha SHO 250 while Capt. Ridge will sport the 18’ powered by a Yamaha SHO 150.
Captain Rick Murphy, one of the most decorated names in saltwater fishing, brings decades of experience and championship pedigree to this new partnership. With multiple records and wins across the Florida Keys Tarpon Fly Fishing tournament circuit, Capt. Rick’s decision to join forces with Chittum Skiffs begins a new chapter in his already storied career.
Captain Ridge Murphy follows in his dad’s footsteps building his own reputation of being a strong competitor in the Florida Keys Tarpon Fly Fishing tournament circuit. He has fished and guided in dozens of inshore tournaments such as the Herman Lucerne, Tarpon Cup, Gold Fly and Gold Cup to name a few. In 2023, he took first place in the Ladies Tarpon Fly Tournament and in 2024, he guided his dad to a first-place win in the Poor Boys Tarpon Tournament in the Florida Keys. Capt. Ridge seeks to continue his success as a tournament guide and angler in his Chittum Islamorada for the 2025 season and beyond.
“I’ve built hundreds of boats throughout my career and with years of experience on the water, my boat must outperform any others on the market…” says Rick. I can have any boat I want, and my choice is Chittum. As an angler who puts all my gear to the ultimate test, it’s important to have things the way I want and Chittum has yet to tell me no to any request. They were able to customize my 21’ Islamorada and they can do that for you too. From power options and carbon fiber packages to console locations and color choices, no request is unreasonable. Partnering with Chittum and Yamaha has exceeded my expectations and we are just getting started. Admiring their craft from a distance the past several years, it’s obvious Chittum Skiffs are the best built skiff on the market, and I am so excited to be part of the Chittum team.”
Chittum Skiffs, known for their design, construction and performance, has built a reputation among guides, anglers and tournament pros alike as the standard in technical poling skiffs. Their focus on innovation, shallow water tracking and silent hull design aligns perfectly with Capt. Rick’s needs on the water.
“We are proud and honored to add Rick and Ridge to our ever-growing list of the best captains and most influential players in the shallow water fishing industry who run our boats. There’s likely nobody in this space who has more experience as a guide, tournament competitor, and celebrity angler and has more time running high performance, shallow water boats than Rick. And with Ridge’s recent tournament success, it’s clear that he’s poised to follow in his dad’s footsteps. We are eager to utilize all this expertise in our never-ending quest to keep Chittum far ahead of our competition,” said Charlie Johnson, VP of Commercial Operations at Chittum Skiffs.
Fans can expect to see Captain Murphy navigating the flats and shallows in his new Chittum Skiff across upcoming tournaments, 2026 episodes of Sportsman’s Adventures as the exclusive technical poling skiff sponsor and guided trips—continuing his mission to inspire, educate and conserve the sport of saltwater fishing.
