Panama City Beach, FL – “Chasin’ The Sun” marks its 100th episode with a look back at eight seasons of saltwater action and coastal adventures in Panama City Beach in the season eight finale, One Hundred Shows, Thousands of Fish. The award-winning fishing and coastal lifestyle television series produced by Visit Panama City Beach will air on Saturday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern / 9:00 a.m. Central on Waypoint TV.
Capt. Justin Leake, the show’s primary host since its 2016 premiere, hooks back up with some of the charter captains that have appeared on “Chasin’ The Sun” to talk about how the fishery has evolved and what they’ve learned while spending hundreds of days on the water filming episodes.
“When we started, I wasn’t sure we’d be able to fully capture the amazing variety of our fishery, but we’ve done that and more,” says Capt. Leake. “Best of all, I’ve been discovering new aspects of the fishery every year as we filmed and I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned – and how to fish our waters successfully – in future shows.”
Over the years, “Chasin’ The Sun” has showcased the wide variety of species that inhabit local waters, including redfish, tarpon, snapper, grouper and many others. “Chasin’ The Sun” has also featured the attractions, restaurants, special events and other activities that make Panama City Beach one of America’s most popular coastal destinations.
“We created ‘Chasin’ The Sun’ to share our diverse fishery and family-friendly destination with a worldwide audience and it has had a tremendous impact,” says J. Michael Brown, Vice President of Tourism Development for Visit Panama City Beach and the show’s Executive Producer. “Panama City Beach is more popular than ever, and visitors are coming here for more than the sugar white sand and crystal-clear water – they’re coming here to fish, too.”
Episode 100 features some of the show’s most exciting adventures including co-host Meredith McCord’s world-record amberjack, Justin swimming with tarpon and the hilarious antics of former co-host, the late Capt. Travis Holeman.
“This production milestone wouldn’t be possible without our crew of dedicated and talented professionals who work on camera and behind the scenes,” says Brown. “We’re thankful for Justin, Meredith, Travis, our producer Chris Hermans and all the charter captains, business owners, lodging partners, guest anglers and sponsors who have contributed to the show’s success.”
To celebrate the show’s milestone episode, “Chasin’ The Sun” is conducting a social media giveaway with spectacular prize packages for four lucky anglers!
