Connecticut Unveils Wild Trout Management Plan

Connecticut is fortunate to have hundreds of miles of rivers and streams with self-sustaining wild trout. While most of these waters are very small and challenging to fish, the year-round flow of cold water provides the necessary habitat for wild brook trout (native) and wild brown trout (introduced).

The state recently initiated an angler survey and held a serious of virtual public discussions to formulate a new action plan. Based on this input, the state is pleased to present Connecticut’s Plan for Conservation and Management of Wild Trout.
