Little Rock, AR – The King Eider is a rare waterfowl whose name means “able to be seen, noteworthy, outstanding” – all qualities that Dena Vick will bring to her newly launched Public Relations agency named after this brightly colored, downy duck.
King Eider Communications is a full-service Public Relations firm led by Vick who is well-known in the outdoors industry as a senior media buyer, social media strategist and lead account representative for many national and international brands.
Vick currently serves on the American Sport Fishing Association’s (ASA) 60 in 60 Committee, which is tasked with engaging the sport fishing industry to support and develop programs with the goal of increasing recreational fishing participation to 60 million before the end of 2021.
While working on her post-graduate degree at Purdue in 2006, she delved deeply into the burgeoning social media platform Facebook: “A colleague and I looked closely at Facebook because we wanted to know what motivated people to disclose their personal information on a social platform. By applying marketing and communication theory to consumer behavior theory, I identified patterns which revealed what motivated people to make purchasing decisions.”
Vick promptly put her knowledge of social media marketing to work for Arkansas Parks and Tourism transforming the agency’s destination marketing processes, which grew the state’s tourism exponentially.
An avid angler and outdoor enthusiast since childhood, Vick couldn’t resist the lure of working in the fishing industry when asked to consult as a strategist for several top fishing brands. She spent the next 10 years developing PR and marketing strategy for companies such as St. Croix Rod, LIVETARGET, and Humminbird.
“Dena has been instrumental in helping us promote our brand and telling our story to the masses. Our product line has achieved a high level of recognition, in part, due to her marketing efforts,” said Vic Cook, Partner at LIVETARGET Lures. “She brings her skillset to work every day and has a unique ability to tackle complex problems and eliminate them with an effective action plan while always being completely transparent with us.”
The launch of King Eider Communications positions Vick and her team to put decades of experience to work for clients through freshly conceived concepts executed with efficiency.
“We know how to optimize organic resources and ad spend to deliver results where they matter most—the bottom line,” Vick said. “We’ve crafted and delivered engaging stories around core products and launched exciting new products to an eager outdoors marketplace for years.”
“We’ve traveled the globe in pursuit of the biggest, baddest fish and game, the best imagery, and the most compelling stories. We know how to breathe life into brand stories and give them traction through earned media. We’ve spent decades forging relationships with trusted outlets and companies that can multiply our client’s messaging across the industry,” she added.
Just as the King Eider is prized among waterfowlers and birders, Vick is prized among those who have worked with her. With core competencies in public relations, media communications, content creation, media buying and social/digital marketing, she is laser-focused on power-branding in the outdoor space.
