Elite Field Set to Compete in Barnett Reservoir Rumble

RIDGELAND, MS – The Association of Collegiate Anglers is set to host its first event of the 2022 season out on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. The Barnett Reservoir Rumble will kick off tomorrow morning from Madison Landing on the shores of Barnett Reservoir in Ridgeland, MS. Over 300 anglers will be competing in this no-entry-fee, nationally televised event featuring a prize payout valued at over $20,000 and double points to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.

Weather conditions are shaping up nicely for this ACA major event. Projected high temperatures for Saturday and Sunday are 70 degrees and 82 degrees respectively. Forecasts call for limited cloud cover and steady wind both days. Nightly low temperatures around 40 degrees will make for a chilly start to each morning, but a steady warmup throughout the day will create ideal conditions to be out on the water.

Barnett Reservoir is set up to fish very well for this elite field of college fishing’s top anglers. Featuring over 33,000 acres of water, the fishery is an expansive playing field where anglers can go out and fish to their strengths up shallow to get bites. The lake is currently at full pool, with water clarity and visibility varying depending on which section of the lake you are in. Soft plastics, as well as a variety of moving baits and topwaters, will be key baits that anglers have tied on during tournament competition. Read a complete lake breakdown and preview recently published to the ACA website, here.

The Barnett Reservoir Rumble is a crucial event in the race for 2021-22 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. This weekend’s tournament is the final ACA double points event before the year-end Championship at Pickwick Lake in just over a month. Defending title winner University of Montevallo and Auburn University enter this event ranked 1st and 2nd in the national rankings. 15 of the Top 20 schools, including 8 of the Top 10, will be in Ridgeland, MS competing in the Barnett Reservoir Rumble. 1,250 points are on the line for 1st place, with points being awarded all the way down to 125th place. Each school will earn points for their two highest finishing teams inside of the Top 125.
