Fish Art Contest Seeks Nominations For Richard M. Hart Educator Of The Year Award

White Bear Lake, MN – Calling all educators! The Richard M. Hart Educator of the Year award is open and seeking nominations. Educators eligible for this award must actively promote participation in the Fish Art Contest within their classrooms, homes, or art studios.

This award honors the legacy of Richard M. (Dick) Hart, a visionary businessman, conservationist, and advocate for teaching youth about fishing. Educators must demonstrate a commitment to encouraging outdoor experiences such as fishing, aquatic recreation, and other nature-based activities among their students.

“Educators are the bread and butter of the Art of Conservation programs,” said Addison Motta, Education and Communications Manager at Wildlife Forever, “We have all had a teacher make a lifelong impression on us. That is what these educators are doing by engaging with the Fish Art contest and connecting students to unforgettable experiences with nature.”

This award is given annually to an exemplary educator who is committed to conservation education. Mr. Hart strongly believed in the power of educators to inspire stewardship in youth and promote conservation minded behaviors. He joined forces with Johnny Morris to establish the Hart/Morris Education Center in Athens, Texas at the TPWD Freshwater Fisheries Center, where there is a permanent display highlighting the award winner and sharing Mr. Hart’s story.

The winner of this award will receive a limited-edition Fish Art print, a classroom fishing supplies package, and a classroom art supplies package. For more information on the Richard M. Hart Educator of the Year Award and details on how to nominate an educator deserving of this honor, please click here. Nominations are due by April 30th, and the winner will be announced in May.

Thank you to the Friends of the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center and the Grann/Hollingsworth Trust for making this award possible.
