Ice Fishing Creel Survey Underway on Lake Champlain

Home States Ice Fishing Creel Survey Underway on Lake Champlain

To gain a better understanding of angler use and expectations while also informing management actions on Lake Champlain, DEC is conducting an ice fishing creel survey. From now through March anglers coming off the ice will be asked to participate by providing information about their day of fishing and allowing DEC creel agents the opportunity to collect data on their catch.

Survey locations will take place at the following access points:

  • Plattsburgh Boat Launch on Cumberland Bay
  • Willsboro Bay Boat Launch
  • Bulwagga Bay Campground
  • South Bay Boat Launch

This is a unique opportunity for anglers to play an important role in future fisheries management decisions on Lake Champlain.

You can find the Lake Champlain Ice Fishing Creel Survey plan on DEC’s website. A summary of the survey results will be available later in 2021.
