In order to keep up with rapid growth, K&E Tackle, Inc has announced that they will be moving into a new larger facility in Hastings, Michigan. The new location will act as the main office and distribution point for all of K&E’s fishing tackle brands, including Stopper Lures, Carlisle Floats, Best Tackle, Bear Creek and Arnold Tackle. The new location will more than double the size of their current location.
“With our continued growth over the past several years, we needed to expand our space.” Said K&E Co-owner Jim Sprague, “With the additional space, we can continue to maintain our inventory levels and increase our efficiencies in shipping and order processing.” Owners Jim and Jenny Sprague purchased the company started by Jim’s Parents, Ken and Evelyn Sprague. The move comes after nearly 50 years in the same location. The current location will be retained and used for additional warehousing.
There is also some added history to the move. K&E Tackle will be moving into what was originally the E.W Bliss Co, where Jim’s parents both worked prior to starting their fishing lure business. “I remember visiting the factory when my father worked there, a big loud production line making punch presses” said Sprague, “Everyone thought he was crazy to leave a good stable union job to try to make a living peddling fishing lures. With three young kids and no real business experience it was a gutsy move.”
