PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Capt. Justin Leake, renowned angler Meredith McCord and Jeff Lange from Florida Watersports go through the why, how and what to rig for success in this week’s episode of “Chasin’ The Sun”, Rig Reason. The award-winning television show, presented by Visit Panama City Beach, will air on Saturday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern & Pacific / 7:30 a.m. Central on Discovery Channel.
Saltwater fishing in the ever-changing conditions of the Gulf of Mexico and the bays surrounding Panama City Beach can be difficult. Accomplished anglers know the rigs and tactics that prove successful today might not work tomorrow. The challenge is to unlock what works every time they hit the water.
“The secret to catching a fish is thinking like a fish,” says Capt. Leake. “When you observe the fish and learn how they act, you’ll find the correct solution to catching that fish on that specific day.”
Capt. Leake stops by Florida Watersports to trade rigging secrets with Lange and McCord. The group focuses on hooks, knots, line, rod and reel– the technical aspects to consider when targeting a specific species during any conditions.
Later in the episode, suggestions for anglers looking to book a fishing trip in Panama City Beach are featured.
The fishing and coastal lifestyle television program showcases the diverse angling, diving and cultural opportunities found in the emerald-green waters of Panama City Beach. Season seven sponsors of “Chasin’ The Sun” include Dulce Vida Tequila, Florida Watersports, Grundéns, Holiday Inn Resort, Humminbird, Minn Kota, Pirates Cove Marina and Smith Optics.
