More Performance And Convenience For Multispecies Freshwater Anglers

Avid Series rods offer a time-proven angler-favorite combination of performance and value.

PARK FALLS, Wis. – Domestic bliss is a wonderful thing. For some anglers, it means balancing their healthy passion for fishing with quality family time. Even better if you can combine the two, right? But for others, reaching domestic bliss is an even simpler proposition; they find it by simply fishing with St. Croix Avid Series rods – an expansive collection of multispecies freshwater fishing tools, handcrafted with passion and pride in the USA.

Avid Series rods offer a time-proven angler-favorite combination of performance and value. In fact, Avid is such an important series to anglers that St. Croix Rod identifies it as a legacy series, meaning it will always be in the St. Croix catalog and on the racks at St. Croix dealers. And for 2024, this diverse, performance-oriented multispecies fishing-rod series shows up as it’s best self – offering heightened performance via all-new materials and improved, angler-focused ergonomics, as well as additional convenience through an expanded offering of two-piece models.

Meet the Next Generation of St. Croix Avid Series Freshwater Multispecies Fishing Rods

“Avid has always been a favored choice of those who identify as multispecies freshwater anglers and place value on a performance-forward, domestically produced fishing rod,” says St. Croix Brand Manager, Ryan Teach. “This series has evolved to support these anglers by remaining highly versatile and adaptive, featuring full-cork handles and an expansive selection of lengths, powers, and actions to support diverse presentations suitable for any freshwater species.”

For 2024, the next-generation of Avid stays true to its multispecies mission while improving performance, starting with lighter, stronger SCIII+ hybrid carbon fiber blank designs that combine premium SCIII carbon and exotic SCVI carbon materials. “Similar to what we’ve done in the past couple years with our bass-focused Victory Series and the Avid Walleye and Avid Panfish Series, the addition of stiff and lightweight SCVI carbon to our proven SCIII material results in rods that are lighter without sacrificing strength or durability, while also exhibiting improved balance,” Teach says. “The overall result is a high-performance rod that’s even easier and more pleasurable to fish with. We’ve offered this technology in species- and technique-specific models to panfish, walleye, and bass anglers via Avid Panfish, Avid Walleye, and Victory, and now we’re giving true, multispecies anglers the same benefits with our versatile Avid Series freshwater rods.”

Next-generation Avid Series freshwater rods also reward anglers with improved ergonomics. “We’ve retained the full-cork handle configuration that best supports multispecies pursuits, but incorporated new designs that make fishing Avid casting and spinning rods easier and more comfortable,” Teach says. “The foregrip on new Avid casting models, for example, covers the threads on the reel seat while remaining short enough that anglers can maintain contact with the rod blank. To make this even easier, the foregrip is also completely absent of palm swell. Meanwhile, foregrips on new Avid spinning models have been slightly extended and reshaped to support anywhere from one to four fingers in front of the reel stem – whatever feels best to the angler in the presentation being employed.”

New Avid Series rods for 2024 give multispecies anglers a variety of choices from ultra-light to medium-heavy power, in popular lengths between 6’6″ and 7′, and fast and extra-fast actions. What’s more, for every available length, power, and action, Avid now offers anglers both one- and two-piece options. Two-piece Avid Series freshwater rod models offer increased flexibility with respect to travel, transport, and storage and feature St. Croix’s slim-ferrule design, which makes multi-piece St. Croix rods fish like a one-piece rod.
