NMMA and WSIA Attend Utah’s Outdoor Recreation Day on the Hill

The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and the Water Sports Industry Association (WSIA) attended Utah’s Outdoor Recreation Day on the Hill hosted by the Utah Department of Natural Resources and Division of Outdoor Recreation last week. Located in Utah’s Capitol building, a variety of outdoor recreation industries gathered to talk with Utah legislators, staff, and fellow industry leaders about matters impacting the outdoor recreation industry.

NMMA members Supra and Liquid Lumen were front and center at Outdoor Recreation Day, with a Supra boat fit with Liquid Lumen lighting placed on the Capitol steps for the duration of the advocacy event.

Legislators and staff were eager to learn more about the outdoor recreation industry’s impact on Utah’s economy and quality of life for their constituents. Recreational boating and fishing alone contributes an impressive $581.9 million to Utah’s economy, and supports over 2,300 jobs and 150 businesses across the state. Industry leaders discussed with key boating advocates and champions the importance of maintaining fair boating access, manufacturing, and establishing a Utah Boating Grant Account, which would divert a portion of vessel feeds to fund boating-related grants.

If you have any questions or are interested in scheduling a visit with Utah members, state legislators or their respective staff members, please contact NMMA Western Policy and Engagement Manager, Rachel Fischer at rfischer@nmma.org.
