onX Fish Midwest, a digital mapping and discovery tool for anglers, today announced its expansion into the state of Kansas. The app’s latest expansion means Kansas’ 283,000+ anglers now have an indispensable tool for finding the right lakes to target their desired catch.
“While Kansas is best known for its outstanding hunting opportunities, the Sunflower State is also home to some of the Midwest’s best-kept fishing secrets,” said Joel Nelson, Head of Marketing for onX Fish. “Unlike regions such as Minnesota or Wisconsin, many of Kansas’ premier fisheries are reservoirs spread across the state. With onX Fish now available in Kansas, anglers can more confidently choose the right lakes to fish, pick among the many launch options, then use our updated Fishing Areas to select among traditionally successful spots.”
onX Fish Midwest is a new app developed by digital mapping and navigation powerhouse onX. The app aims to solve the biggest problem facing anglers, “Where should I go fishing?” onX Fish Midwest debuted in Minnesota in early 2024. Since then, the company has been adding more Midwestern states, while gathering feedback from anglers in each new state to improve the user experience before moving onto the next. The app is currently available in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, and now Kansas, and will continue to expand across the region and country.
The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) identifies several barriers facing new and old anglers alike, including crowded fishing spots, not catching fish, and lack of knowledge and information being chief among them. To solve these common problems, onX Fish Midwest developed a powerful Lake Finder feature that helps anglers find new fishing opportunities by filtering thousands of lakes for different species, trophy or keeper potential, and abundance based on scientific data acquired from each state’s fish and wildlife agencies. In addition to fish-related parameters, the app allows users to filter lakes based on lake size, and access amenities like parking, toilets, and boat ramps.
Other key features of the app include Area Insights, Fishing Regulations, Weather, Fishery Details, Offline Maps, Recent Satellite Imagery, and an Apple CarPlay integration. As the fishing season continues through the summer and into fall, onX Fish Midwest customers can expect the company to continue updating its offering and toolset.
onX Fish can be downloaded for iOS on the App Store, or for Android on Google Play. Annual membership pricing is just $34.99. For more information on onX Fish Midwest, visit https://www.onxmaps.com/fish/app.
