The addition will support Pitman Creek’s best-in-class shipping to customers across all industry segments, including freshwater, saltwater, and ice fishing markets.
With the 2025 acquisition of Sports Specialists and the addition of a coastal road sales team, Pitman Creek expanded its reach and capabilities. Today, the company is the nation’s largest wholesale distributor of fishing tackle, servicing customers in all fifty states and fifteen foreign countries.
The planned 112,500-square-foot addition will increase Pitman Creek’s total footprint to 357,500 square feet across facilities in Stanford, Kentucky, and Germantown, Wisconsin. Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.

Pitman Creek Wholesale was founded in 1978 by Don and Marella Stephens in Somerset, Kentucky near the Lake Cumberland tributary where the company gets its name. Initially the company was a custom lure manufacturer and evolved into a full line tackle distributor. James S. Coffey purchased the company in 1993 and moved the company to Stanford, Kentucky. At that time the company primarily focused on central Kentucky tackle shops and marinas. After many years and moves, Pitman Creek is now located back in Stanford, Kentucky, and employees 125 full-time associates making them one of the largest employers in Lincoln County.
