BEMIDJI, Minn. – With the metaverse underway and sophisticated sonar pinpointing fish swimming out in front of you, a new jig seems awfully mundane. Just a weighted hook delivering a minnow or plastic, right? Not so fast… For 2023, Northland Fishing Tackle brings forth a host of new jigs that are fishing’s equivalent to hypersonic missiles.
Best news? They’re all available now!
The innovative multispecies jig is established on a Gamakatsu Jig 90 Big River hook with its large gap and acute bend that offers great holding power, locking fish in place. Hooking percentages are simply astonishing with its unique sickle hook design.
Amenities continue with the MVP Jig’s realistic head, featuring molded gills, mandible jaws, and 3D eyeballs. Northland’s trademark “Barb-Wire” keeper locks soft plastics and live bait in place. And there’s a color combination for every situation and angler preference. Choose from White, Black, Chartreuse, Walleye, Firetiger, Purpledescent, Pink, Parrot, Bubblegum, Sunrise, Moonlight, and Watermelon. Available sizes include 1/8-ounce (1/0 hook), ¼-ounce (2/0 hook), 3/8-ounce (3/0 hook), and ½-ounce (4/0 hook).
MSRP $6.49 (3 per card)
Made from eco-friendly heavyweight tungsten, the head is 30% more dense when compared to lead, and consequently smaller and more sensitive. It fishes like reading braille with your rod, reel, and line combo—every subtlety of the bottom and the slightest fish bump or bite telegraphed immediately. ¼-ounce smaller in volume compared to lead, you can get by fishing a lighter jig than you would with a lead counterpart, leading to a more finesse-centered presentation that simply catches more fish.
The Tungsten Jig and Tungsten Short-Shank Jig sport a premium, sticky-sharp Mustad Ultra-Point Hook and dual hook keepers that lock soft plastics and live bait in place. Jeweled, red “T” eyes serve to attract visual feeders like walleyes and easily identify the new Northland jig as tungsten. Available in three sizes and nine colors—1/8-, ¼-, and 3/8-ounce with size 1/0, 2/0, and 3/0 hooks respectively. Proven, fish-catching patterns include Black, Gold Shiner, Firetiger, Parrot, Bubblegum, Sunrise, Glo Moonlight, Parakeet, and Glo Watermelon.
MSRP $6.99 (2 per card)
For those who have long recognized the catching power of traditional Fire-Ball Jigs, fear not. The new weedless versions of the venerable Fire-Ball Jigs carry all the features you’ve come to depend on when targeting walleyes, sauger, perch and other predators. Their short-shank Fire-Ball design produces a compact live bait presentation that’s ideal for vertical jigging with a minnow, leech, or half a crawler.
A smooth and gentle retrieve works best for pulling these jigs through the weeds. Rig up with a shiner or other baitfish, toss it out and glide it smoothly back through vegetation with your rod tip held high.
Northland’s Weedless Fire-Ball and Stand-Up Fire-Ball come packaged two per card in 1/8- and ¼-ounce sizes. Available in contemporary colors: Parakeet, Sunrise, Glow Watermelon, Firetiger, Super-Glo Chartreuse, Super-Glo Lumi, UV Pink Tiger and UV Purple Tiger.
MSRP $4.99 (2 per card)
The best in basics. Whether targeting bluegills and pumpkinseed, jumbo yellow perch, plate-sized crappies or walleyes, Northland’s new Gum-Ball Jigs are sure to up your score anywhere you fish.
Each Gum-Ball Jig features a premium-quality lead “ball head” molded around a thin-wire, gold-plated hook with a blood red finish, nice wide gap, and super-sharp point for quick and solid hook sets. Additionally, the ball head’s bait saver collar tapers along the hook shank, ensuring remarkable balance to your presentation, while a small baitholder at its end helps keep soft plastics and live bait from sliding down the shaft.
Gum-Ball Jigs are available in 1/64- through 1/2-ounce sizes in White, Black, Pink, Chartreuse, Firetiger, Shrimp, Parrot, Bubblegum, Sunrise, Glo Moonlight and Glo Watermelon color patterns.
Packs range from 2 to 15 jigs with varying prices.
Affordably priced and easy to operate, the trio of new baits are founded on Northland’s venerable Gum-Ball Jig. Each Rigged Gum-Ball Jig features a gold-plated hook with blood red finish for added enticement.
The Rigged Gum-Ball Grub sports an especially active, split curly tail. The extra slice produces a tempting action even fished at slow speeds, or as it helicopters downward off the cast. Think of the Rigged Gum-Ball Minnow like an ideally weighted soft jerkbait or fluke. The slender, baitfish-shaped body darts around when jigged, evoking strikes from about everything that swims, including bass, walleyes, perch and panfish. The Rigged Gum-Ball Swimbait is the ideal all-around paddletail bait for everything with fins and an appetite.
All Rigged Gum-Ball® Jigs are available in 3 sizes, 3 body shapes and 6 colors. Sold 4 per card, 2 rigged 2 tails. Colors include White, Firetiger, Shrimp, Sunrise, Moonlight, and Glo Watermelon.
MSRP $6.99 (2 rigged/2 extra tails per pack)
This best-of-class swimbait jig is established on the cosmetics and effectiveness of the original Mimic Minnow Jig, which has been a multispecies darling for years. The Mimic Minnow Swim Jig commences on an authentic looking, sculpted jighead. The bait-shaped and detailed jighead features realistic eyeballs and flared gills, and its 60-degree line-tie promotes an even-keel action and ability to find its way through cover like cabbage and coontail.
Separating it from the pack, the extraordinary heavy-duty jighead is outfitted with a premium Gamakatsu hook, which is noticeably sharp and extremely strong for hearty hooksets. You’ll also appreciate the Mimic Minnow Swim Jig’s unique double bait keeper. The base keeper is forged into the jighead. Next, Northland added a stout wire keeper to amplify the Mimic Minnow Swim Jig’s ability to hold plastics in place.
Available in 4 sizes and 8 tested colors. Sizes include ¼-, 3/8-, ½-, and ¾-ounce. Colors include Black, Smelt, Walleye, Perch, Bluegill, Sexy Shad, Green Pumpkin, and Purple Shad.
MSRP $6.49 (2 per pack)
Northland is proud to launch the new Elite Series Cabbage Crusher, a slender, upturned bullet-shaped, weedless jig built specifically to operate in vegetation. The bass-heads at Northland put a lot of thought, testing, and re-testing of designs into the final, retail-ready Cabbage Crusher. The team settled on a 60-degree tie eye which slips nicely through weeds and heavy cover and features a gap large enough for the stiff, heavier fluorocarbon employed by a lot of bass anglers plying vegetation.
The Cabbage Crusher’s dual, titanium weed-guard delivers strength and flexibility. A molded-in bait holder and wire keeper combine to keep plastics and skirts exactly where they’re supposed to be, not sliding down the hook shank.
Northland’s Cabbage Crusher is available in four sizes – 3/16-, 1/8-, 3/8- and ½-ounce – and four colors: RUSTY CRAW, BLACK, GREEN PUMPKIN, and SILVER SHINER
MSRP $6.49 (2 per pack)
Northland is proud to introduce the Elite Series Finesse Football Jig. Available in three sizes, it sports a thin but tough and razor-sharp 1/0 Gamakatsu hook. The perfect size for smaller finesse soft plastics like Ned-style baits and smaller creatures, the Finesse Football Jig can also be dressed in a skirt of your choosing and a trailer. Anglers can also pair with smaller swimbaits for a whole new presentation look and feel. The options are endless.
Available in Black, Green Pumpkin, Rusty Crawdad, and Black & Blue, there’s a color for every situation and to match the bait of your choosing.
MSRP $5.99 (3 per card)
Combining a mushroom style jig head with a small, buoyant soft plastic, Ned Kehde’s brainchild is responsible for countless catches over the last decade plus. Now, Northland comes to the table with a custom jig conceived specifically for Ned Rigging. The new Elite Series Nedster Jig and Weedless Nedster Jig feature a mushroom shaped head, designed so that when paired with the right bait, the plastic and hook stand up off the bottom to imbue realism and promote positive hooksets. Speaking of the hook, all Nedster Jigs are established on an incredibly sharp and strong 1/0 Gamakatsu hook. Northland worked with pros to select the perfect gauge wire that is thin enough for quality hooksets on spinning tackle, yet strong so it won’t disappoint when you need to fight through cover and boat a slob bass.
The new Nedster Jig and Weedless Nedster Jig are available in 4 sizes (1/8-, 3/16-, ¼-, and 5/16-ounce) and 4 colors (Black, Chartreuse, Green Pumpkin, and Rusty Craw).
MSRP $5.99 (3 per pack)
Wacky rigging remains a dominant technique with bass anglers in the know. Stick a slender plastic through its midsection – or connect via a rubber O-ring – pitch the jig to the bottom and loft and lower. The oddball presentation agitates bass to no end.
Northland’s new Weedless Wacky Jig features a sleek head design, dual titanium weed-guards, and a premium wide-gap Gamakatsu straight shank Gamakatsu hook. The finesse sized 1/0 hooks works ideally with finesse soft plastics. Available in 3 sizes 1/16, ⅛, and 3/16 and 2 colors – Black and Green Pumpkin.
$4.99 (2 pack)
