Trout Continue to be Stocked Statewide in Nebraska

Ready to get out and enjoy spring? One of the best ways is with a fishing pole in hand. Trout are being released at dozens of city ponds and lakes statewide to increase spring fishing opportunities, so now is a great time to check out the stocking schedule and plan a fishing trip.

Nebraska’s fisheries managers employ many tools to maintain and enhance our state’s fish populations and fishing opportunities. Stocking fish is just one of those tools. Each year millions of fish are stocked in Nebraska waters from one end of the state to the other, dozens of species are stocked in hundreds of waters.

Each spring, rainbow trout are stocked in city ponds and state park and recreation area lakes across the state by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. These stockings enhance fishing opportunities during fall and winter. Cutthroat and tiger trout stockings also are scheduled for a select number of water bodies.
