Urieville Lake Reopened Following Improvements

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has reopened Urieville Lake Fisheries Management Area in Kent County for public use. About 450 cubic yards of material has been dredged from the area around the lake’s boat ramp, providing easier access for small boats and improving shoreline access for anglers.

The improvement in bottom substrate will provide enhanced spawning habitat for nesting fish like largemouth bass and bluegill sunfish.

A small dock has been installed to assist in boat launching and retrieval, as well as improve
fishing access.

The project was funded by the State Lakes Protection and Restoration Fund.

Fishing and Boating Services requests that visitors try to avoid disturbing the recently planted
areas, which are covered with straw or matting.

For any questions or concerns, please reach out to Eastern Regional Manager Brett Coakley by email or phone at 410-928-3643, extension 104.
