HALIFAX, Va. – July 27, 2026 – Healthy wildlife habitat doesn’t happen by accident. It requires active land management, long-term planning and the right tools.
That’s why Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation is partnering with Fecon, a leading manufacturer of vegetation management and forestry equipment, to support habitat restoration and forest management projects across the foundation’s conservation properties.
As the foundation celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, the partnership will help accelerate projects designed to improve wildlife habitat through invasive species removal, forest stand improvement, early successional habitat creation and responsible stewardship practices. These activities will be done using Fecon’s forestry mulchers, specialized land management machines that clear brush, trees and invasive vegetation by grinding it into nutrient-rich mulch that remains on the ground.
“Maintaining healthy wildlife habitat requires a hands-on commitment to the land,” said Ward Burton, Founder and President of The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation. “We’re grateful for Fecon’s support and their understanding of the important work that goes into managing forests, fields, and natural landscapes. Their equipment helps us accomplish projects that directly benefit wildlife and strengthen our conservation efforts.”
The foundation has spent three decades demonstrating how active land management benefits wildlife, water quality and future generations of outdoor enthusiasts. Its conservation efforts also serve as educational opportunities for youth, veterans and landowners interested in responsible stewardship.
Available in deck, disc and drum configurations, Fecon’s forestry mulchers can quickly remove dense undergrowth, process standing timber or tackle a wide range of vegetation while leaving behind a natural mulch layer that helps reduce erosion, improve soil health and prepare land for healthier wildlife habitat and forest regeneration. This equipment allows the foundation to complete projects more efficiently while minimizing disturbance to surrounding habitat.
“The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation has spent the past 30 years showing what responsible land stewardship looks like,” said Jeff Stanley, chief commercial officer for Fecon. “We’re proud to support Ward and his team as they continue restoring wildlife habitat and demonstrating conservation practices that benefit both the land and the people who enjoy it.”
The organizations share a commitment to sustainable land management that improves biodiversity, strengthens forests and ensures healthy wildlife habitat for years to come.
