ASA’s Martha Guyas to Serve on NOAA Advisory Committee

Last week, NOAA announced the selection of 20 individuals to serve on its inaugural Marine and Coastal Area-based Management Advisory Committee. Among the 20 individuals was ASA Southeast Fisheries Policy Director Martha Guyas. The Committee will advise NOAA on science-based approaches to area protection, conservation, and restoration and management of coastal, Great Lakes and marine locations. Congrats, Martha! Learn More

Fishing Industry Leaders Oppose the WATER for California Act

Last Friday, 156 fishing industry leaders, including dozens of ASA members,  wrote a letter to congressional leadership in opposition to the WATER for California Act (H.R. 215). The bill could decimate Central California salmon runs and the thousands of jobs that the salmon runs support. ASA partnered with the Golden State Salmon Association the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations in gathering sign-ons for the letter. Learn More
