SHARKED Act Passes U.S. House Committee

Last Wednesday, the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources approved the Supporting the Health of Aquatic systems through Research, Knowledge and Enhanced Dialogue (SHARKED) Act (H.R. 4051) by unanimous consent, putting the bill one step closer to becoming law. With anglers increasingly encountering sharks and losing fish throughout the United States, the SHARKED Act is a critical step toward identifying meaningful and responsible steps to mitigate this complex challenge. ASA Participates in Striperfest

Over the weekend, ASA’s Mike Waine and Rob Russell traveled to Cape Cod for On the Water’s annual Striperfest, a celebration of striped bass fishing. Waine highlighted ASA’s efforts to conserve the striped bass fishery and participated in a Q&A seminar on the striped bass fishery to increase community engagement for our policy efforts.  Learn more

Outdoor Recreation Roundtable Testifies in Favor of ASA-Supported Legislation

Last week, the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable’s Senior Director, Ambreen Tariq, appeared before the House Natural Resources Committee’s Federal Lands Subcommittee in support of two bills that improve public lands access, the Improving Outdoor Recreation Coordination Act (H.R. 3107) and the Gateway Community and Recreation Enhancement Act (H.R. 3200). ASA supports both pieces of legislation, which advance the Association’s goals of expanding access to public lands.
